Cooper's Do-Nuts- Queer Resistance History
Inspired by our histories of resistance and the 1959 “riot” at the L.A. Cooper’s Do-Nuts on 215 South Main St. This print is the first in a series showing the exteriors of buildings that were safe spaces for queer community members of the past. They are intended to serve as a reminder that the spaces we deem safe are often of our own creation, that they are sometimes threatened, and that fighting back is part of our collective history.
Each is hand printed on BFK Rives archival white cotton rag paper in black ink. Woodblock is 3&14”x3&3/4”, print is approximately 5”x6” in size. Each are hand printed, so there may be small variations from the photo you see and the print you receive.
